Founded by Victoria Bakir, a former travel writer and journalist, the brand blends traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with the modern aesthetics of a global traveller.
madebywave was born on a trip across Indonesia in 2015. As a true beach and fashion aficionado, Victoria was inspired to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary lifestyle aesthetics. The desire to create 'a must-have piece' took her on an incredible journey across the Indonesian islands in search of far-flung destinations where traditional craftsmanship is still an integral part of the community.
The brand's summer 2017 debut collection included a range of ethically sourced handwoven sarongs, handmade straw clutches and beach bags, which were complemented by a series of beaded charms.
Last year the team also launched its bespoke black straw bags, which are eaqualy ideal for colder climes and fit perfectly in the countryside.
